ALMA, Mich. (WNEM) - A study exploring a potential railway route across Michigan is in its final stages and could be completed this winter.
The Alma City Commission received an update on the North + South Passenger Rail Study during its meeting Tuesday, Nov. 11.
According to city documents, the report focuses on refinements to the route, service planning, cost estimates and stakeholder conversations about rail governance and future design.
A consulting team, led by WSP, a global engineering and professional services firm, is examining the route and frequency modeling. This is a critical step that will help identify the recommended service option for the passenger rail, the report said.
