311 Omakase , a 10-seat Japanese restaurant in Boston’s South End, has become the first establishment in the city to receive a Michelin star.

The Michelin Guide unveiled its Boston selections during a ceremony at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia Tuesday evening.

Boston joined fellow first-timer Philadelphia. Selections for New York City, Washington, D.C. and Chicago were also announced. All of these cities comprise the 2025 Michelin Guide Northeast Cities edition.

311 Omakase earned the highest honor of any Boston establishment Tuesday night by earning one Michelin star. Multiple restaurants received Michelin recommendations or were bestowed a Bib Gourmand distinction.
