AVON LAKE, Ohio -- Most readers may not know that the Avon Lake Sports Hall of Fame features someone with the nickname of “Mighty Mouse.”

Or that his extraordinary story may be coming to the big screen, thanks to first-time author and former North Ridgeville resident Christine Taylor-Lohmeyer.

Lohmeyer just published her book, “America’s Mighty Mouse: The Chuck Vinci Story,” which tells the extraordinary true story of her late uncle.

Vinci was a two-time Olympic gold medalist in weightlifting and a resident of Avon Lake.

At just 4 feet, 11 inches tall, Vinci became one of the strongest men in the world, defying every expectation and embodying resilience and work ethic, Lohmeyer said.

He represented the United States in the Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, in 1956 and in Rome in 1960.
