Newly reelected Bridgeport City Council member Alfredo Castillo was arrested for the fourth time on charges tied to absentee ballot fraud, reports said.
He turned himself in to Connecticut State Police earlier this week and was charged with restricted possession of absentee ballots, according to the Connecticut Post.
Investigators have not said whether the new charges are related to recent complaints sent to the State Elections Enforcement Commission.
In those complaints, the daughter of another council member accused Castillo of impersonating a HUD employee and collecting absentee ballots from voters at the Harborview Towers and Crescent Crossings public housing developments, per the Post.
The arrest adds to Castillo's litany of cases.
Police first charged Castillo in June 2024 and again in February 2025. Those charges stemmed from the alleged misuse of absentee or mail-in ballots in the 2019 and 2023 elections.
Police arrested him a third time after a Pond Street man told investigators that Castillo “stole” his and his family's votes during the September 2023 primary, the Post reported.
Castillo has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Castillo has served on the Bridgeport City Council since 2013.
