ST PAUL, Minn. — It's the time of year for generosity and giving, and in Minnesota, that sense of giving has translated to millions of dollars in help for nonprofits.

Give to the Max Day began in 2009 as part of the launch of GiveMN.org , a website that helps nonprofits with online fundraising. Since the success of the first event, GiveMN has made it an annual holiday.

According to GiveMN, $37.1 million was raised for 6,556 organizations during Give to the Max Day last year. Since 2009, $400 million has been raised.

Here's how it works: Go to GiveMN.org's website and search the list of nonprofits. You can search for nonprofits by name or by category. Then, give to whichever cause or organization you wish to support.
