A Calgary man, identified as Allistair Chapman, has been arrested in connection with a significant drug bust in the United States. This operation is linked to the murder of a witness in Colombia and involves a former Canadian Olympic snowboarder.

Chapman, who has been labeled a drug kingpin with connections to Mexican drug cartels, appeared in Calgary Court of King’s Bench on Tuesday. His extradition application to the U.S. was postponed until Friday. Court documents indicate that Chapman faces serious charges in the U.S., including conspiracy to export cocaine and murder, as part of a continuing criminal enterprise.

Defense attorney Chad Haggerty, who represented Chapman during the court proceedings, chose not to comment on the case.

The U.S. Department of Justice has named Chapman as the only individual from Calgary involved in an ongoing investigation into Ryan James Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder. American authorities suspect that Wedding is being sheltered by a drug cartel in Mexico.

Wedding was recently arrested as part of "Operation Giant Slalom," a major law enforcement initiative targeting drug trafficking. He was previously listed on the FBI's Most Wanted List. Images from the FBI show Wedding, who is also from Calgary, among those apprehended in the operation.

The investigation continues as authorities work to unravel the connections between these individuals and the broader drug trafficking network.
