LINCOLN, Neb. —
A 17-year-old boy died in a motorcycle crash on Tuesday, Lincoln police said.
Officers responded to Southwest 23rd and West South streets for a report of a crash around 2:45 p.m.
Investigators said a 2011 Buick Enclave, driven by a 69-year-old woman, was preparing to turn left onto South Street when she said she heard what she believed was a motorcycle speeding. She started to turn left and saw the motorcycle's headlight crest the hill.
Lincoln police said the driver stopped the SUV and the 17-year-old laid down the motorcycle. He slid more than 100 feet and collided with the driver's side door of the SUV. The Yamaha bike slid almost 400 feet before coming to a rest.
