KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. — East Carolina University Police have arrested a 21-year-old from Kill Devil Hills in connection with an alleged sexual assault at East Carolina University.

Joseph Thomas Eizeya Lane, who is not a student at the university, was taken into custody on Nov. 19 and charged with second-degree forcible rape, according to ABC station WCTI.

The incident occurred Oct. 5 in the Fletcher residence hall. The victim and suspect were acquaintances.

According to court documents, Lane is scheduled for his initial court appearance on Nov. 20 at the Pitt County Courthouse.
