Youngstown State cut its deficit in half in the second half, but Toledo men’s basketball held on to dominate thanks to forcing a season-high 22 turnovers.
The Rockets beat the Penguins 92-75 at Savage Arena on Wednesday with 31 points coming off giveaways.
“We all just want to do whatever we can for the team and it doesn’t matter if it’s me, Leroy Blyden Jr. or Sean Craig,” junior guard Sonny Wilson said. “We’re just out there competing, playing hard, forcing turnovers, getting steals, and pushing in transition.”
Toledo’s defense extended beyond turnovers, however, as it held Youngstown State’s Cris Carroll, a preseason first team All-Horizon League selection, to 10 points until the game got out of reach.
Will James, Jr., was one of five Rockets to get a steal to go along with a career
