NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has revealed new details about a traffic stop that led to 16 arrests earlier this month.
Deputies arrested 16 people and put two young children in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services on Nov. 14.
Deputies stopped a Ford Econoline van pulling an enclosed trailer on Spring Creek Road just before 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14.
When they approached the vehicle, the deputies could reportedly smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the van.
PCSO said the driver of the van, Ruben Dario Escobar, told deputies there were only six passengers in the van and that they were traveling from Michigan to Georgia for work. He also reportedly admitted to having marijuana in the van, which led to a probable cause sear
