TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - We’re always warning you about the dangers of hiking in the heat, but what about when it gets cold?
The later in the year we get, the less daylight we have, and that poses all sorts of risks to hikers, especially with the colder temperatures.
Nowadays, the sun’s been setting just after 5 p.m., and that’s how it’ll be for the next couple of months.
And Pima County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Adam Schoonover with Search and Rescue, said they’ve already started seeing rescues related to it.
“That’s one of the things that we’re seeing, at least right now,” Schoonover said. “People go on trail, and think they have a lot of time, and they don’t bring the proper equipment.”
Proper equipment, like a flashlight, to be able to find your way back.
