ANN ARBOR, Mich. — It’s easy to look at a stat sheet and think, where’s the production?
A year ago, tight end Colston Loveland was a focal point of the Michigan offense, compiling a program-record 56 catches for 582 yards and five touchdowns. In some respects, he was the Wolverines’ passing attack.
Fast forward a year and things are different for the tight-end room. Injuries have impacted the position, limiting playing time with some and thrusting younger, less-experienced players into duty.
The group’s leader, Marlin Klein, leads the way with 16 catches for 172 yards and a touchdown, prompting some to wonder if a bigger role might still be in play down the stretch.
