STATEWIDE — SEVERAL UP NATURALIZATION CEREMONIES IN COUNTIES AROUND NEW YORK STATE WERE ABRUPTLY CANCELLED in seven counties within the past week, New York Attorney General Letitia James stated on on Wednesday, Nov. 19, one day after a widely-publicized group of new citizens were administered the oath at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston. Among the seven counties impacted are Westchester and Rockland. James, in her Nov. 19 letter to USCIS Director Joseph B. Edlow, said, “Taking the oath of allegiance and becoming a United States citizen is a proud and significant moment for our newest citizens and their communities. An oath ceremony represents the culmination of a lengthy process and the beginning of a new chapter for those who achieve U.S. citizenship.”
