A Summa Health executive will lead the charitable foundation that is being created out of the proceeds from the hospital system's recent sale to the for-profit Health Assurance Transformation Company.

Tracy Carter, who currently serves as director of government affairs and health policy at Summa, has been named president and chief executive officer of the Trailhead Community Health Foundation of Greater Akron , the foundation announced Nov. 20.

Trailhead's mission is to advance health and wellness across Summit, Stark, Portage, Medina and Wayne counties — the main footprint of Summa Health before its transition away from nonprofit status.
