YOUNGSTOWN A late-night encounter on Youngstown’s South Side early Thursday morning ended with an arrest after a man told police that someone he described as “an old friend” allegedly struck him in the face with a bottle before stealing his bike and bag.
The victim was riding his bicycle to a gas station on Market Street at West Avondale Avenue when he saw Terry Pompay, according to an officer’s report. The victim told police that as the two men talked, Pompay allegedly grabbed a wine bottle and struck him in the face, causing him to fall. The attack left the victim with a bleeding cut above his left eye.
Pompay then reportedly took the victim’s bookbag and bicycle before riding south on Market Street. The victim told the police he did not know why Pompay would have attacked him, notin
