Deliberations for London’s 2026 municipal budget update got underway Thursday morning, with city politicians endorsing more roads funding, and paying off a Middlesex-London health unit debt related to its relocation.
At the city hall debate, city council members, meeting as the budget committee, voted to add back in a little more than $100,000 in annual road maintenance the mayor left out of his budget, and voted to stick with his proposal to help pay off the public health authority’s debt from its move to Citi Plaza.
“I’m satisfied that there’s good, healthy debate, and people are being very respectful around the horseshoe,” Mayor Josh Morgan said. “There’s difference of opinions being expressed, people are accepting those, we’re making votes, and people aren’t taking things personally.
