MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Dominica Mosby appeared before a Shelby County Criminal Court judge on Thursday morning, facing a charge of second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend’s child, 3-year-old Kevin Horton.
An Action News 5 crew present in the courtroom observed that Mosby’s hearing was brief, lasting only a couple of minutes. Upon entering the courtroom, Mosby immediately sought to conceal herself behind a wall with other inmates.
Judge Taylor Bachelor ordered Mosby to undergo a mental evaluation.
At the time of her arrest, Mosby confessed to homicide investigators that she had abused Horton, including burning his genitals when he urinated on the floor.
The medical examiner concluded that the cause of death was homicide.
Mosby is scheduled to return to court on December 1
