MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A former Shelby County Division of Corrections investigator pleaded guilty to accepting a bribe as a public official.
Deon Scott, 41, pleaded guilty in Chief United States District Judge Sheryl H. Lipman’s courtroom Monday.
Investigators say Scott accepted money to provide contraband to an inmate while in his position as an internal affairs investigator for the Office of Professional Standards.
He was fired once officials learned of the bribe.
Scott is set to be sentenced on February 15 and faces 15 years in federal prison.
