POTSDAM, New York (WWNY) - It’s a fundraiser that typically brings big bucks to the Potsdam Fire Department, but it’s not happening this year.

With Christmas a little more than a month away, many in the Potsdam community would typically turn to the fire department’s annual Christmas tree fundraiser.

“It brought out the families and the holiday cheer,” said Potsdam 2nd Assistant Fire Chief Jay Bradish.

But this year, the fundraiser won’t be happening. That’s because the department couldn’t secure trees from its usual supplier.

“I’m not sure whether he has the trees or planned on selling them somewhere else because he does sell himself,” said Bradish.

Last year, the department sold about 350 trees. That raised anywhere in-between $8,000 and $10,000, which goes toward upgrading fire gear
