A 19-year-old has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a September shooting in Poughkeepsie.

A person was shot in the back in the early morning of Sept. 27, in front of 313 Main St. in the City of Poughkeepsie. The victim, who was not named, underwent surgery for their injuries and was hospitalized for several days.

Malachi Cornwall has been charged with one count of second-degree attempted murder, one count of first-degree assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, the Dutchess County District Attorney 's Office said Nov. 20.
