SHREVEPORT, La. – The ongoing $361 million project to replace the Jimmie Davis Bridge over the Red River in Caddo and Bossier Parishes has progressed into a new phase of construction.
Phase 2/2A of construction involves the continued widening and realignment of state Highway 511, which is also the Jimmie Davis Highway and 70th Street. Beginning on Monday, a traffic shift will occur to allow construction activities to take place on the west side of the bridge.
The Clyde Fant Parkway southbound ramp to Highway 511 westbound will be closed, causing motorists to go southbound on Clyde Fant, go under the bridge overpass and go around to a temporarily installed traffic signal that will provide access to Highway 511 westbound.
This configuration is anticipated to be in place until March.
