A 24-year-old Brick Township man has been charged with vehicular homicide following a fatal crash on the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County last year, authorities announced Thursday, Nov. 20.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at 4:20 a.m., New Jersey State Police responded to a three-car crash on the southbound lane of the Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said.

An investigation determined Deryn Gomez was driving his 2013 Honda Accord northbound in the southland lanes of the parkway when he struck a 2002 Honda Civic, Santiago said. After the crash, both vehicles were struck by a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, Santiago said.

The driver of the Civic, Priscilla Gladden-Pertuz, a 28-year-old Paterson woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gomez was originally issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and driving against the flow of traffic, Santiago said.
