AUSTIN, Texas — A former Austin ISD teacher is facing felony charges in connection to child sexual abuse following an arrest last week.

According to Austin ISD, Jonathan Marks, who formerly taught at Bedichek and Gorzycki middle schools, is facing two charges: possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony; and relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony.

Marks had served as a special education teacher with the district from 2020 through fall 2024. He taught at Bedichek Middle School from 2020 until 2023, according to the school's principal.

A letter from Bedichek's principal to parents states that school officials are working with Austin ISD Police to investigate whether or not any misconduct involving Marks occurred on campus.
