BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio — Bedford took a big leap in Jermaine Gay’s first season as boys basketball coach.
After an early postseason exit, finishing just below .500, the Bearcats won 17 games and reached the OHSAA Division III district finals. Now, they want to go even further.
“It definitely was a bounce-back year,” senior guard Kevin Woodgett III said Wednesday during a four-game scrimmage at Brecksville-Broadview Heights. “Last year, we fell short in districts. So this year our goal isn’t even to win districts, it’s to make it down the states.”
Woodgett will take on the lead guard role, which he shared last season with Jaivon Hudson. The team’s assist leader for multiple seasons, Hudson graduated. So did leading rebounder and shot blocker Terrell Pollard.
