The farewell tour for Afton, Minnesota, native Jessie Diggins will soon begin.
The 34-year-old cross-country skier announced via social media on Wednesday morning that the 2025-26 season will be her last as a competitor. She will go down as the United States’ most decorated cross-country skier.
“It’s going to be hard to step away from this sport and team that I love so much,” Diggins wrote in her post on Instagram. “It also feels right in my heart, and I’m so excited to open a new chapter in my life!”
After bursting onto the scene as a teenager at Stillwater Area High School, Diggins became most famously known for winning a gold medal in the team sprint alongside her childhood idol Kikkan Randall at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. She also added a silver medal and a bronze meda
