VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) - About 1,000 to 1,500 gallons of wastewater entered Sugar Creek in Valdosta on Wednesday, according to a Valdosta Utilities press release.

The overflow reportedly happened at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday due to damage to an 8-inch sanitary sewer line, per the press release.

An hour later, a utilities crew installed a patch to the damaged line, the utilities department reported. Utilities Director Jason Barnes said they are committed to protecting Valdosta waterways.
