A tractor-trailer rollover on the Red Hill Valley Parkway (RHVP) early Thursday caused extensive damage to the guardrail, closing northbound lanes into the evening commute.

The truck was heading north on the RHVP around 12:30 a.m. when it overturned and spilled three to four large steel coils onto the road between Greenhill Avenue and King Street East, Hamilton police said.

Shortly after, all northbound lanes were closed between Mud and King streets and remained closed until almost 6 p.m.

The collision, which did not involve any other vehicles, caused extensive damage to about 300 feet of guardrail that separates the parkway’s northbound and southbound lanes.
