NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Tennessee parents and taxpayers have filed a lawsuit challenging the state’s school voucher program, according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee (ACLU).

The Education Freedom Scholarship program started with the 2025-26 school year after passing during a special session.

The program allows parents to choose the school that best fits their child’s needs, regardless of income level or zip code, according to the state.
