BENTON, Ark. — A Saline County restaurant owner accused of sexually assaulting multiple underage girls won’t receive any jail time after he agreed to a plea deal on Wednesday.
We spoke with one of the alleged victims, who is being kept anonymous due to her age and the nature of the crimes involved.
“I was very excited, because I was like- it's my first job,” the girl, now 16, said. “Like, it's something new.”
That’s what the girl remembers about starting her job at Tim’s Tavern in Benton when she was 14.
Yet, she said it all went downhill after the owner, Timothy Steppach, came to pick her up for work one day.
“He took my phone, wouldn't let me have my phone,” the girl said. “He told me that my mother couldn't help me anymore. He chased me around my room to hold me, to pin me down.”
