The SR 99 tunnel in Seattle has reopened in both directions Thursday morning after a power outage.
The Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is asking drivers and commuters to seek alternate routes.

Both directions were closed from 7 a.m. until just before 11 a.m., when the southbound lanes were able to open up. The northbound lanes reopened shortly after.
The tunnel was shut down after the power outage due to the fire suppression and ventilation systems being offline. As for why there is no backup power system in place, RB McKeon, communications
