DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Two people are dead following a crash that caused traffic delays on I-285 in DeKalb County on Thursday morning, according to officials.
The DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department responded to the two-car crash on I-285 eastbound at Buford Highway just after 4 a.m. When crews arrived, they found the head-on collision, with one of the cars engulfed in flames.
One person was trapped inside the burning car and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to fire officials. Two other people from the second car were taken to the hospital, where one of them later died.
Traffic was down to one lane on I-285 eastbound while emergency crews were on the scene. As of 7:30 a.m., all lanes are back open.
