In the political wilderness for the past 11 years and counting, Labor has utterly failed as the state opposition.
And the past week has shown it's not learning: it's one step forward and two steps back.
You can well imagine the party's one-eyed, rusted-on supporters getting their backs up over this statement.
They'd point out how terrible the Liberal government is and list the disasters on its watch.
But it's exactly because of this reality that we know the opposition is doing such an awful job.
It's supposed to hold the government to account and to offer an alternative.
Yet Tasmanian voters clearly have not been convinced to give Labor another go, and the party's vote even went backwards in the July election.
