MCCORDSVILLE, Ind. — At McCordsville United Methodist Church Food Pantry, the trend for a while has been more people relying on the food that fills their shelves — even before the federal government shutdown .
The shutdown only added to that demand, and they are seeing more large families. Now, the church said it needs help to keep the shelves stocked.
"We've had a couple calls this morning of just people in the community that want to donate and help, which is just wonderful," said Marjorie Phillips, McCordsville United Methodist Church Food Pantry co-chairman. "It takes all of us."
The food pantry was serving 25 people just a few years ago. This week, it was 250 people.
