CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A new workforce center opened its doors on Kirkwood Community College's main campus, marking its grand opening with an event.
Beth Townsend, Iowa Workforce Development Executive Director, emphasized the center's mission. "We're not just a place to go to file for unemployment and you need to do job searches and that kind of activity. We're here to help everybody find a job," Townsend said.
Townsend added that the new center aims to strengthen connections between employers and job-seekers, supporting the local community by encouraging students from Iowa's educational institutions to remain in the state.
