[DES MOINES, Iowa] — Several projects across Iowa are receiving significant financial support from the state to aid in historic preservation efforts.
The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) is awarding historic preservation tax credits to boost revitalization projects. A significant portion of this funding is directed towards Waterloo and Cedar Rapids.
The IEDA is providing more than $5.4 million to restore the long-vacant Rath Administration Building in Waterloo. Developers plan to convert the building, located on Sycamore Street, into 87 affordable housing units for seniors. The structure has been empty for nearly 40 years.
