Sean Pocock is a bit of a celebrity around his hometown of Dalby.

That is because he came up with an idea to play music to people who might feel like they did not have a place to be themselves in the Western Downs community.

Sean, 34, started hosting monthly Disco-bility events at the Dalby PCYC, about 200 kilometres west of Brisbane, 10 years ago.

He said they were designed to give people with disabilities a safe space to dance and socialise.

He said there was only one rule: have fun.

"I just love playing music," Sean told the ABC while setting up his decks before his most recent gig.

"I used to play music in my room, and I thought it was time to start being a DJ because there's nothing for people around Dalby to [cut] loose and have fun."
