Three young aviators from Manipur have embarked on a 5,400-kilometre migratory journey to Somalia on November 11, pushing the boundaries of endurance in the natural world. Researchers monitoring the Amur Falcon's remarkable migration have documented an incredible achievement: the bird is travelling from India to Africa at a speed of over 1,000 km per day, reaching around 5,400 kilometres in five days.

The Manipur Amur bird Tracking Project (Phase 2) includes the satellite-tagged bird, lovingly known as ‘Apapang.’ On November 11, 2025, Apapang and two other Amurs—a young female named ‘Alang’ and an adult female named ‘Ahu’—were tagged in the Manipur jungles by the Wildlife Institute of India.
