Telecommunications giant Verizon will lay off 13,000 people across the company, CEO Dan Schulman announced Thursday.

Verizon is one of Arizona’s largest private employers . While it failed to rank in the top 100 in 2025, it did make the Arizona Republic’s 100 largest employers list in 2024, at the time listing 1,520 employees statewide. The 2024 employment total was a drop from 2023, when it had about 2,100 employees in the state.
