LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky police and emergency responders are strengthening their skills to respond in crises.

Though red and blue lights and caution tape were wrapped around the UK’s Kroger football field on Thursday, it was not an actual emergency; it was instead for a full-scale crisis training.

Leading campus personnel and responders, UK police chief Joe Monroe said that they’ve planned for this scenario for over nine months.

“It’s one of the largest ones in the region, as well as the largest ever undertaken by the University of Kentucky,” Monroe said.
