LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — The financial services administrator for the Nebraska Department of Education, Bryce Wilson, said Thursday the $30 million overpayment made to Omaha Public Schools is something they’ve “never had in 16 years.”

“I’ve been working with the TEEOSA formula for 16 years, and we’ve never had anything like this in 16 years,” Wilson said.

TEEOSA, the Tax Equity and Educational Opportunities Support Act, funding is essentially needs minus resources equals aid, but it has many moving parts.

The overpayment to Omaha, because of how certain allowances are calculated, will also impact Grand Island and Southern Schools.
