After months of requesting proposals, the Blount County Communications District Board has voted to approve a new ambulance service at no-cost to the county, but decreasing the number of available units.

The new company, AmeriPro Health offered a bid with no subsidies and four around-the-clock ambulances. Previously, the county had five ambulances during the day and four at night.
