A bombmaker who created "homemade napalm" and whose arrest led to evacuations in Melbourne's CBD has been jailed for eight years.
Workers spilled onto Collins Street in June 2024 when Victoria Police's bomb squad was called to search a stolen car driven by Steven Mauldon.
Heavily armed police blocked off the streets and a methodical search was conducted of the vehicle.
Officers found drugs, chemicals, a homemade gel blaster gun and a suitcase full of illegal goods, the County Court heard.
Items inside included a knuckleduster, fake car registration plates and other people's ID cards and licences.
When police raided the home of Mauldon's mother in the Geelong suburb of North Shore, they found a large grey suitcase in an outdoor shed.
They located two bombs inside, consisting of paint
