PERRY, Fla. (WCTV) - A Perry man was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison by a judge after fleeing a traffic stop and pretending to be carjacked , according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Florida.
David Miles, 31, was arrested on Feb. 7 after fleeing a traffic stop, leading police on a speedy car chase, “eluding officers on foot, and then pretending to have been the victim of a carjacking,” court documents reveal.
With the help of K-9s, authorities tracked Miles down to his mother’s house.
“Miles eventually admitted to officers that he had fled from the traffic stop because he had a rifle in the vehicle with him and knew he was not allowed to possess firearms,” the press release said.
