For much of Purdue's game against Memphis on Thursday in the semifinals of the Baha Mar Championship in the Bahamas, it seemed like everything was working against the Boilermakers.
The Boilers were on the wrong end of a series of questionable calls, the floor was wet and slippery and the Tigers were playing an ultra-aggressive press that had Purdue on its back foot. Even the rim was a problem for coach Matt Painter's team in the first half.
"The first (half rim) was a little bit higher," said Boilers guard Fletcher Loyer, whose team went 4 for 14 from 3-point range in the first half before ripping off a 7-for-16 performance on the other rim after halftime.
Did Loyer measure the rim to see if it was actually off?
"Yeah, with my eyes," he said, smiling.
All of the elements working again
