The Bloomfield Hills volleyball team is in the Division 1 state championship game after pulling off a 25-19, 22-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-13 win over Rockford on Thursday in the state semifinal at Kellogg Arena.
The Black Hawks will face Farmington Hills Mercy in Saturday’s state championship game after the Marlins pulled off a reverse sweep in Thursday’s other semifinal.
The Rams and Black Hawks split the first two sets Thursday, then split the next two sets.
A trio of Kayla Nwabueze kills helped Bloomfield Hills take a 5-2 lead in the final set before Liv Hosford reeled off back-to-back-to-back kills to tie the score. She later hit back-to-back kills to put Rockford in front 10-9, but Nwabueze answered with back-to-back kills of her own.
