SALINE TWP., MI - For some, it’s light pollution. For others, it’s a poor use of farmland. For still others, it’s the fast-tracked political process.
On one thing, though, they all agreed: the data center must go.
“A data center, especially one this large, is uniquely evil,” said Josh LeBaron, one of a handful of people heading up a larger group to oppose the data center in Saline Township backed by tech giants OpenAI and Oracle.
Roughly 45 people from multiple south Washtenaw County townships met in a Saline Township barn Thursday evening, Nov. 20 to strategize the opposition’s path forward.
The 2.2-million-square-foot center, set to be situated on 575 acres and developed by Related Companies, has drawn ire from residents of the small agricultural community and surrounding areas.
