LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Thanksgiving break is almost here, and with kids out of school, one organization is making sure they don’t go hungry over the break.
“Sometimes their snacks and their meals only come from when they go to school,” said Foley.
The Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Lake Charles chapter has launched a new initiative to make sure kids have enough food over the upcoming Thanksgiving break. It’s called Snacksgiving.
“With the federal shutdown, it is very important that some of the most vulnerable communities are taken care of, which are children,” said Chapter president Charlene Valcin.
Valcin says they are putting together snack bags, along with other essentials kids may need.
