CAMBRIDGE, Wis. (WKOW) -- Wisconsin Democratic lawmakers visited a local dairy farm in Cambridge to learn about the issues affecting farmers and the state's dairy industry. Senate Minority Leader Dianne Hesselbein and State Sen. Sarah Kieksi of District 14 were among those present to gain insights for future legislation.
Hesselbein said one reason for the visit was to learn more about agritourism. She noted that many area high schools no longer have Future Farmers of America (FFA) clubs, which is affecting the dairy industry because fewer students are entering the field. She hopes to support public education initiatives that encourage schools to maintain programs like FFA, which she says will be possible if Democrats regain control of the Senate.
