A question over when a man is likely to die has been challenged in a state tribunal.
The former Tasmanian carpenter recently won a dispute against the state's Asbestos Compensation Commissioner it denied his claim that his asbestos-related illness was imminently fatal.
The worker had been in the carpentry trade for 12 years up until 1989, and last year, had submitted numerous documents and opinions relating to his condition from respiratory and radiology experts to support his compensation claim.
The commissioner referred the claim to a medical panel on the basis it had more recent and comprehensive medical evidence.
