A 57-year-old Mayfield man is among six Tasmanians charged after an eight-month investigation into a major drug trafficking syndicate saw nearly $2 million in cash seized.

Police have allegedly seized $1.94 million cash, three silver bars and 7.5 kilograms of cocaine as part of the investigation into an alleged organised crime network that saw the trafficking of border-controlled drugs into and within Tasmania.

One Queensland man was also charged with the six Tasmanians.

The men range in age from 31 to 57.

The man from Mayfield, near Launceston , was charged in September after a random breath test on Tasmania's East Coast at Triabunna led to a search of his car, where police say they found a cardboard box containing more than $1 million in cash.
